Greenlaning Driving Days
The rights of way for vehicles in the countryside of England and Wales has by legislation been restricted to Bye-ways and U.C.R's (Unclassified Country Roads). Knowing which of these can be driven legally is an exacting task and one which we at Impala take very seriously. Our team spends time researching the rights of way so that we can produce an up to date roadbook, which allows you to enjoy a trouble free day, weekend or weeks countryside driving with us. The hotels that we use are all carefully selected and are "off road" friendly, not in the least minding muddy boots and vehicles. This allows our clients to enjoy a day’s, a weekend’s or a week of off road driving in complete confidence, knowing that all of the routes have been properly researched and that Impala backup cars are there just in case you get stuck on that slippery hill or rutted track.
South of England Greenlane Week
This week long adventure has some of the most beautiful and challenging lanes available in England. On the way you will feel the touch of our ancestors as you gaze out across the Dorset landscape from Eggardon Hill and look on, also in awe at the ring of stones circuling the village of Avebury. You will also marvel at the industry of the iron age burial mounds that you will see alongside many of the lanes that we are travelling on. The variety of tracks mirrors the incredible variety of the English countryside. On Salisbury Plain chalk and flint tracks cross rolling hills of farmland, whilst in Devon the tracks run between high banks and forested hills. Our journey through Exmoor takes in the historic Stone Age river crossing at Tarr Steps.
Because this adventure is running during June we will be camping. Mostly at high quality campsites but also for one night of wild camping.
This is an excellent route for all types of off road car.

Welsh Greenlaning Weekend Treasure Hunt
Wales is the pearl in our Greenlaning days. Rights of Way are so numerous that it takes a week to travel them all. We have two days so the route concentrates on the best of them from a high mountain track with stunning views to a river section with water over your bonnet if it is raining.
All types of car will find this route challenging and we have diversions in the roadbook for the Freelander type of car.
We will meet somewhere in Herefordshire on the first days lunchtime so that we can enjoy two superb days of off road driving. On the second day we will work our way across the Black Mountains, enjoy the wilds of Strata Florida an evergreen track running alongside a stream for much of its length before snuggling down for the night at the Hafod Hotel overlooking Devils Bridge. Our third day of adventure sees us crossing over happy valley where the views are the best in Wales before returning to the Hafod to enjoy the warmth and a meal after two days of fun. Expect some cunning clues along the way,you may even have to walk a thousand steps!!
The price includes three nights dinner bed and breakfast. Rooms are twin or double but it is possible to get a single room if you book early, although there is a small supplement for single occupancy.
